No polite cabaret pop here but intensely personal stories creatively wrapped in piano and delivered with his smooth, sometimes dreamy, baritone voice. Swirling synth parts intertwine with guitars and other instruments on most of the songs. "Sweet Suicide" is a biting little tune starting with a melodic piano:

Wish I could compete with your perfect goodbye
The sweat of your thousand tries
the threat of the same blue sky ...

The upbeat "Kite High" is a surf-dance tune you'll wanna crank up while cruising down a sunny highway. Adding to the dramatic lyrics in "Stuck in the Sunset" is what sounds like a crunchy electric guitar. "Cruel Attempt" is in a perky waltz time but listen to the lyrics and get the real story of this playful but slightly evil come-on.
